Overview

You are invited to join The Nebraska Medical Center dynamic volunteer program. Opportunities are available day and evening, seven days a week. Volunteers are asked to make a minimum of 2-4 hour commitment each week. A six-month or 60 hour commitment is requested of all volunteers. To volunteer at The Nebraska Medical Center, you must be at least 16 years old.

How to Become a Volunteer

  1. Call Volunteer Services at 559-4197 to pre-register for a volunteer orientation class. This session is required for all new volunteers.
  2. Successfully complete:
    1. A health screen
    2. Drug screen
    3. Criminal background check
  3. Obtain a photo identification badge
  4. Interview for placement and schedule in an assigned service area
  5. Attend training in service area

A week prior to the volunteer orientation class, a packet of information will be sent to you. You will need to bring this completed paperwork with you to the session. During orientation, you will learn about what is expected of all The Nebraska Medical Center volunteers and briefed on health, security and safety issues. You will learn in class how to complete the next steps of screenings, checks, id badges and placement.
