Kenneth E. Stinson
In Hollywood, stars are honored with their names in lights — or on the Hollywood
Walk of Fame. In the Heartland, our “stars” are honored for different reasons. They
are the people who commit themselves — through leadership and philanthropy — to
making a difference in our community.
Kenneth E. Stinson, chairman of Peter Kiewit Sons’, Inc., is a longtime star in
our community. His dedication to volunteerism in the areas of downtown riverfront
redevelopment, healthcare, education and the arts shines in dozens of civic organizations.
Ken is chairman of the Ak-Sar-Ben Future Trust, Omaha Symphony, and USSTRATCOM Consultation
Committee. He previously served as chairman for The Nebraska Medical Center, Knights
of Ak-Sar-Ben and is a member of numerous boards, including Creighton University
and Girls and Boys Town.
A San Francisco native, Ken has received numerous honors for his contributions and
commitment, including: Humanitarian Award from The National Conference for Community
and Justice; Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce Headliner of the Year Award; Mid-America
Council of the Boy Scouts of America Citizen of the Year; United Way of the Midlands
Citizen of the Year; and American Society of Civil Engineers OPAL Award for Outstanding
Lifetime Achievement in Construction.
Ken’s wife, Ann, is also involved in many organizations that benefit the Omaha community.
She and Ken served as co-chairs for the United Way of the Midlands campaign and
the United Way’s Alexis de Tocqueville Society.
