Neurology Patient Care Unit Dedicated in Memory of Dwight Burney
For more than 30 years, Dwight Burney, Jr., MD, dedicated his life to helping others. An orthopedic surgeon at the former Clarkson Hospital, Dr. Burney’s legacy will live on at The Nebraska Medical Center through a new state-of-the-art neurological patient care unit made possible by Kathryn Burney in memory of her late husband.
At a dedication ceremony on April 10 at The Nebraska Medical Center, the neurological unit was dedicated in Dr. Burney’s name and memory. Inscribed on the glass memorial as you enter the unit, are the words: “This floor is dedicated in loving memory of a man whose skills as a physician, surgeon and caring human being were cherished by this hospital throughout his long career. For more than 30 years, he shared his medical expertise, personal strength, humor and commitment to quality with peers and patients alike.” This state-of-the-art neurological sciences specialty unit is given in Dr. Burney’s memory by his wife, Kathryn, to perpetuate her husband’s legacy and commitment to this hospital and the people whose lives depend on it.
